Zofia & Company
We are a boutique photography studio that caters exclusively to Nantucket. Our clients come to us for modern portrait and wedding photography that is fun and casual. Photography is our career but it’s also our love. We enjoy what we do very much and we know that shows in our images. We love becoming friends with our couples and seeing them come back with their families year after year.
Zofia has been photographing weddings since 1996, and has lived on island over ten years. After running a successful business for many years, she needed to expand and hire a few good photographers. She brought on Mark and Brian in 2010. Mark soon became Zofia’s husband, and Brian has since become an invaluable associate.
The majority of the time, Zofia is the lead photographer. Mark also books weddings for dates that she is unavailable, and Brian photographs smaller weddings. They are both trained to shoot in Zofia’s fresh style, having shot dozens of weddings and portraits with her over the years.
It’s all about the romance of a wedding day; the age old traditions and the new ones being made, the gathering of people who haven’t seen each other in far too long, the bittersweetness of a father giving away his daughter, the look in the flowergirl’s eyes as she admires the bride, the words of wisdom given from a grandmother, the special piece of lace from her wedding veil that is pinned to the bride’s gown, the look on the groom when he first sees the woman who minutes later will be his wife, and the big party at the end of the night to celebrate it all. We eat it up.
Photography is our career and our passion. We absolutely love what we do.
Zofia
Zofia has been photographing weddings professionally as long as she's been snowboarding - 16 years. She's not as good at snowboarding. Sure she can race boys down the hill, but she's never even landed a 360. Each time she presents a finished wedding album to her couples, she feels like she's won an Olympic gold medal in the half pipe. At every wedding, she loves having the opportunity to make people happy, to push herself and to grow.
Zofia writes instructional blog posts and teaches workshops on lifestyle portraiture, posing and lighting as part of ShootStyle, a small group of New England wedding and portrait photographers focused on communal sharing.
She and Mark have recently fallen back in love with shooting medium format film. In their spare time, they like to shoot for themselves. Their lives are surrounded by photography, tending to our amazing backyard garden, and playing with Ava and baby Vivian - the most amazing daughters anyone could ever ask for.
Mark
Mark has had a camera in his hand since he was 9. He's always loved photography and art, went on to study Graphic Arts but always came back to the camera. Mark loves being part of the happiness of a wedding and helping to preserve those special memories for you to relive again and again. After working for himself and as a second photographer for 3 years, he met his awesome wife and they have now joined forces!
The best part of the wedding day, for Mark, is when everyone lets loose on the dance floor! The craziest thing he's seen at a wedding was when the groom's father surprised everyone by playing drums with the band. He often wonders if they'd ever let him do that.
Mark takes special care to photograph the groom's expression as he sees his bride for the first time. It's such a BIG moment. Mark will never forget seeing Zofia with her dad at the end of the aisle at their wedding.
Brian
Brian is the associate photographer, booking smaller weddings and family portraits. He is also available for corporate commissions such as real estate and event photography. This is Brian's 4th year at Zofia & Co. He's a fabulous editor, a fantastic assistant and a talented photographer.
When not slaving away for Zofia & Co., Brian can be found surfing, sailing, paddle boarding, snowboarding, and playing bocce. Brian's talented eye for capturing action and moments is an amazing addition to Zofia & Co. Check out his personal website here : Brian Sager Photography
