Nantucket Engagement Sessions

Nantucket Engagement Portraits, Amanda & Mike

Amanda & Mike are getting married next spring in their hometown of Washington DC. Amanda’s family has a home here on Nantucket, and they were visiting on island this week. I took them for a stroll early Friday morning around Brant Point and Steps Beach for their Nantucket Engagement Session. Amongst the New York Yacht Club boats in the harbor, the famous Nantucket Lightship was docked by the lighthouse for Race Week. It’s the 12th Lightship, built in 1950. Though this one is now a charter, the boats originally served as lighthouses to welcome voyagers to America.

Fun Fact : Nantucket Lightship baskets, which can be seen at nearly every wedding we photograph, were first woven in the 19th century by the Wampanoag American Indians on Nantucket, and also on these boats.

~ Enjoy, Brian
