Izzy and Matt were married at Westmoor Farm last week. Wednesday evening, they brought their guests to Madaket beach for a sunset toast, then to the Lobster Trap for a traditional Nantucket seafood dinner. Though the weather did not cooperate on Thursday, their wedding day, (downpouring after a nearly completely dry summer!), it didn’t dampen their spirits nor the celebration of their marriage. Actually, the weather proved that nothing can phase these two or stand in the way of their love. Luckily, we did get some clear skies just before sunset to take their portraits outside.
The property, a private home, includes cottages for guests to stay in and two main buildings, or barns as they’re named. The Red Barn was host to the wedding ceremony and dinner, and the Green Barn held the cocktail hour and reception. Guests were good sports, running between the two barns, getting wet, and smiling all the while. Highlight for me was Izzy’s first dance with her dad to Stuck in the Middle With You. Reminded me of my dad and his musical taste – Crazy Train being a favorite.
A little story from the bride :
“Matt proposed at Brant Point last September – forgetting that the sun sets a little earlier in the fall, we enjoyed our meal at Lobster Trap, with last minute plans to walk to Brant Point for sunset. As we rounded the corner towards Children’s Beach, the sun set and it was freezing and dark for the rest of the walk. Matt was determined and proposed in front of the lighthouse, in the pitch black, with a ring that didn’t fit but it was perfect. For Matt and I, Nantucket is more than vacation spot, it is a state of mind – we often find ourselves sweating and crammed into the subway in New York, daydreaming of riding our bikes in Nantucket, listening to live music at the Brewery, trying to figure out how to just book a one-way ferry trip. It is definitely a place that we can escape to, even just mentally. We hope our family and friends fall in love with it the same way we did.”

It felt a little bit like fall for Annie & Larry’s ‘Sconset wedding last weekend and no one was complaining about it. It’s been a hot and humid summer and we are all looking forward to the cooler, dryer feel of September…and of course, weddings! Annie & Larry kicked off my September wedding season with […]
