After a lobster dinner and s’mores bonfire the night before at The Wauwinet, David and Ashley were married on the harbor at The White Elephant Hotel on Friday.
The couple vacationed on Nantucket shortly after their engagement. As Ashley puts it – they rented a cottage, explored the beaches, roamed the cobblestones streets and fell in love with the island’s natural beauty. “When we had visited the island, we felt as if time stood still.” They just knew it would be the right decision to forgo a big wedding in NYC and instead have a smaller celebration with their closest friends and family.
David shed a few tears watching his stunning bride walk down the aisle with her father. Seeing how incredibly happy and in love these two are, you just couldn’t blame him. David’s brother Alex recited a Native American blessing during the ceremony. Another brother, Brian, sang their first song – “The Very Thought of You” by Nat King Cole.
Ashley kept the day carefree, light and very pretty in all her planning. Using a rustic country theme of burlap, lace, pink and gold accents, she and Dawn Kelly from Soiree Floral designed a beautiful long table for all the guests to sit at for dinner. Ashley wanted the guests to have the feeling of warmth, love and nature. Our favorite part of the day was seeing the big smiles Ashley and David had all day, not stressing but just enjoying themselves.
