Petra & Bret were married on the White Elephant lawn overlooking the Nantucket harbor. The perfect September day turned into a quintessential foggy Grey Lady island evening.
The couple was set up at another wedding by Petra’s grandmother… sort of. She tried! Time passed, and after a little Facebook stalking Petra and Bret soon became an inseparable pair. Petra vacationed on Nantucket her whole life, and even stayed at the White Elephant many times. Where many years ago she was ordering up virgin strawberry daiquiris and cannonballing into the pool; she was eventually destined to be married!
Bret got to sneak a peek at Petra in her gorgeous gown by the cottages on Old North Wharf. Unbeknownst to me when I chose the location, this was also a place where Petra had stayed as a young girl. A kind gentleman let us through the Wharf Rat Club cottage and gave us a little story about its history.
Navy and coral served as bright pops of color throughout the day- from Bret’s suit and tie to Petra’s nails, from the bridesmaids’ robes to their dresses, from the flowers to the table clothes at their reception. The bright colors were a perfect match to a bright and lively party who loved to dance. Rumor has it they shut down the Whaling Museum with a bang the night before. Gotta love a fun crowd!
