Caitlin & Rob were married at her family’s home in Madaket. Moments before I arrived, I got a text from Meaghan at Darya’s telling me Caitlin was on her way from the salon, and it was going to be epic. But I really wasn’t prepared for how fabulous her hair and makeup looked. Amazing. Rob seemed to agree, as he held back tears when he first saw her walking down the aisle. Though the couple lives in NYC, Rob is from the Netherlands. It’s always nice to see little touches from ones’ home and birthplace. The ceremony was full of laughs as everyone waved hello to Rob’s family who was being Skyped in from the Netherlands. Caitlin incorporated a little Dutch into her vows, “Ik hou van jou met heel mijn hart, en voor altijd”. I love you with all my heart, for always. Guests tossed lavender that was brought in from the Netherlands as well.
Jewel tones and fall colors accented the outdoor ceremony, which was officiated by Caitlin’s brother in law. The bridesmaids wore dresses in rich blues, Caitlin’s bouquet had pops of deep reds, Cailtin’s father wore a purple tie matching the floral and birch arch, and her mother was in a stunning burnt orange dress. Lots of gorgeous eye candy.
The reception was a full on dance party, which reminded me that Europeans tend to go out and dance a lot more than Americans do. We could all use a little more dancing in our lives!
