Brian proposed to Jacqueline at Tupancy Links last summer. That fall, I took them on a little walk through the former golf course/now popular and beautiful dog walk with ocean views for their engagement session. They were planning an outdoor ceremony at Tupancy, but Nantucket’s brush with Hurricane Dorian threw their plans for a loop with heavy rain and wind predicted for their Friday wedding.
Luckily, Jacqui’s family loves sailing and are all too familiar with the sometimes finicky weather on island. The couple was not afraid to get wet on their wedding day, but also didn’t want to sacrifice an outdoor ceremony at their beloved location. As a perfect compromise, they brought most of the wedding party and her parents along with mom’s dog, Ziggy, out to Plan A the morning prior, just before the weather took a harsh turn. Instead of a typical rehearsal, Jacqui, Brian and their attendants got dressed up in wedding clothes (Jacqui in an alternate dress that she would also change back into for the rainy photos the next day), and brought flowers from Bartlett’s Farm. Along with the film team, we were able to get some photos and video where they have always wanted.
The wedding day itself was rainy and windy (81 mph gusts were reported the following morning!), but it was a lot of fun. It’s always those crazier times that are most memorable, aren’t they? With the help of Jimmy Jaksic of Immaculate Reception, Jacqui and Brian’s wedding dreams came true. Plan B was an indoor ceremony at the Nantucket Yacht Club, with their reception following there. After the ceremony, where many guests from around the world participated with readings, we all got ready to brave the outdoors with raincoats, rain boots, umbrellas and ponchos. This was a wedding no one will soon forget!
