Kelsey & John had a sweet first look on Front St in Sconset before saying their I Dos in front of their nearest and dearest on the Zen Deck of the Wauwinet Hotel. We got a nice surprise while taking some couple’s portraits on the dock when the boat captain of a beautiful baby blue charter invited us on board for a spin! Sweet details, including napkins from Tuckernuck’s home line, decorated their outdoor dining area at Topper’s Restaurant.
From the bride, “John proposed on 4/23/2022 at Crane Beach in Ipswich, MA.
We pulled up to the beach and learned that it was $25 to enter. I insisted that we shouldn’t pay just to look at a beach, but John asserted that it was fine and paid, and we began our walk down the beach. Despite some resistance at the gate, everything was going to plan, and when the moment felt right, John exclaimed, “Oh! We have to leave! I forgot we have dinner reservations!” and began speed walking back to the car to really sell it. Instead of his expected response, I didn’t say anything and ran to catch up, proceeding to run past him as he got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” Already rattled by the commotion surrounding this mystery dinner, when I finally realized what had happened, I jumped backwards in shock and screamed, “Oh my God!,” grabbing the attention of the crowd that John had intentionally led us away from. Having only been down on his knee for about 5 seconds, John thought I was going to fall over and jumped up after me. Eventually, I composed myself and said yes.
I had always imagined my proposal to be very romantic, wearing a pretty dress with a fresh manicure. Instead, it was sheer chaos, and I was wearing a neon pink fuzzy sweater, a boucle jacket, ripped jeans, and my nails were dark brown, nearly black. But it was funny, felt more like us, and it was absolutely perfect.
We decided to get married on our 6 year anniversary, 7/21/2023, and knew there was no better place than where we spent our first anniversary, on Nantucket, surrounded by our parents and siblings.”
