Claire and Michael were married at the ‘Sconset Chapel with a reception following at Sankaty Head Golf Club.

The couple met while they both attended Fordham University, as she spotted what she describes as a motorcycle loving, Jim Morrison look-a-like. Fordham was also where they met Father Tueth, a Jesuit and professor. Though they weren’t his students, he’s a beloved fixture and one could easily see why, with his sense of humor officiating the wedding, as well as blessing the meal which was followed by high-fives from the guests.

Michael is a native Nantucketer and brought Claire here to visit one March. She feel in love with the island in the off season – the true test.

A cute crew of Claire’s 2 nephews in Nantucket Reds, and her sweet niece Mara, accompanied the bridemaids and groomsmen who were all dressed in classic black and navy. Claire’s colorful Kate Spade shoes matched perfectly with her bouquet, which also was complimented by the same shade of dahlias growing in the gardens of ‘Sconset.

Claire’s something borrowed was her aunt’s platinum set pave diamond four leaf clover earrings from 1920, which are a family heirloom and also especially significant since Michael proposed to Claire in Ireland, overlooking the Lakes of Killarney, last year. The story (which I love) goes like this, in Claire’s words, “Afterwards, we headed into town for a celebratory dinner of lobsters and champagne. A group of 15 or so older Irish gentlemen was sitting next to us and after realizing we had just gotten engaged, proceeded to go to the front of the restaurant where there was a piano (naturally) and serenade us in true Irish fashion for the next hour or so. We joined them after we finished eating and they treated us to pints of Guinness as well as their vocal talents.” They will be honeymooning in Italy, where Michael’s family is from.
