Katy & Graham’s wedding won’t soon be forgotten by any and all who attended.
It started as a beautiful and warm June day in Wauwinet. Graham and his groomsmen took the Toppers boat launch for a spin on the harbor before meeting with Katy’s bridesmaids. Graham stayed behind on the dock and waited for Katy to come tap him on the shoulder for their first look. The couple was emotional and happy to see each other, and the weather could not have been more perfect.
After a few wedding party and family portraits the wind picked up, sprinkles turned to rain, it began to downpour, then came the lightning and the thunder, and finally the hail. A supercell storm was brewing overhead. The staff at Handy & Dallaire Events, the Wauwinet, Flowers and Chestnut, Yellow Productions, and we all scrambled to move what was going to be a picture perfect outdoor ceremony to inside under the porch at Toppers. Thunder was heard over the couple’s vows yet everyone had a good sense of humor about it.
After the ceremony, the sky cleared up once more, just enough to make for an incredible backdrop. Luckily Katy and Graham were game and let us drag them back out under the impressive clouds. This time we stayed dry, and soon the party got going under the tent.
We can only hope that if we get such crazy wedding again on a Saturday in June or September that we’ll have a couple as amazing as Katy and Graham who were truly great sports. If they could weather their wedding day with big smiles, they’re gonna make it through anything.

Mick proposed in Ocean Beach, California just about a year ago by sneaking a ring […]
There is something wild going on with the hydrangeas on Nantucket this summer- they are just so lush! A wonderful couple who is game for anything and that sweet golden hour light made for […]

It felt a little bit like fall for Annie & Larry’s ‘Sconset wedding last weekend and no one was complaining about it. It’s been a hot and humid summer and we are all looking forward to the cooler, dryer feel of September…and of course, weddings! Annie & Larry kicked off my September wedding season with […]

For Caroline, the wedding day began at her family home in downtown Nantucket- a former whaling captain’s home once owned by the Macy family, one of the original founders of the island.
