In the bride’s own words :
“In May of 2009, five of my best friends from Lehigh and I decided to move to Nantucket for the summer after graduation. We knew it would be our last chance to live together before entering the “real world”. We were all single when we went out there that summer, however, that quickly changed for me.
Matt and I met at the Lobster Trap 4+ years ago over Figawi weekend. It was my first night out on Nantucket. One of my bridesmaids, Tess McGrath, who worked with Matt at the Tavern, introduced us that night. From that night on, we were inseparable. I also got a job at the Tavern later in the summer, and five mere months after we met, we moved in together in Philadelphia. We have since relocated to Boston, and we love our new home in Beacon Hill.
Matt proposed when I least expected it during a Sunday day-trip to Newport, RI. We had spent the day at Second Beach and decided to take a walk along the Cliff Walk before a quick dinner and drive back to Boston. On a secluded path along the water Matt got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
I first met Jeanette (Netty to her friends, and me!) and Matt at their beautiful Nantucket Stroll Engagement Session back in December. The couple came down to the island from Boston a week before their June 7 wedding to spend time with their friends and family, as well as prepare many of the DIY details for their wedding day. Two days before the wedding, it rained so hard there were rivers of water pouring down the streets of town. But by Friday the weather started to clear, and on Saturday the weather was spectacular, and widely agreed upon as the nicest day of the year.
Netty and her bridesmaids, spent the morning relaxing and getting prepared in a suite overlooking Nantucket Harbor in the White Elephant. The bridal party was wearing classic looking JCrew dresses, while Netty looked stunning in her Marisa wedding gown wearing blue monogrammed, engraved earrings – a Christmas gift from Matt for the wedding. He and his groomsmen were looking dapper in suits complete with customized cufflinks from Netty.
The touching, and at times hilarious, ceremony took place under a flawless blue sky, overlooking the harbor. Followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the lawn as guests admired the beautiful Nantucket afternoon. During the dinner service, both of Matt’s brothers and the Maid of Honor gave heartfelt toasts to the couple followed a Jeanette’s sister bringing down the house, singing a beautiful jazz love song accompanied by the Perry Rossi Band.
Cake cutting and some very impressive dancing followed before the newly married couple departed, in a large white convertible, accompanied by a large sparkler sendoff.
